Carving Background: Carved and taught carving for many years. Carved in the wood carving shop at Silver Dollar City

Thoughts: Most carving can be done with patience and a number 11 gouge.


Some Examples of Wilberts's Work

The banjo teacher was carved from a single piece of basswood.

A close up of each face in Wilbert's cane is shown above. An indian on the handle, two lovely ladies,
a priest, and a soldier.The cane is carved in segments from basswood and butternut.

The "Lady in Chair" was created by making a clay model, coating it with glue to
harden it for the duplicator, creating a rough out, and then making the final carving.
