Potential New Meeting Location - 7295 94 South

 

At the 3 January 2007 club meeting (STILL AT THE ST. PETER'S ART CENTER) we will vote on moving the club meetings to a new location. 

On November 15th several club members met at the Weldon Spring Department of Energy site to check it out as a future meeting site and have provided very positive feedback on the site.  From highway 40/61 or I-70 exit highway 94 and continue south toward Defiance.   

 

                                                                                                                                 

Christmas Party

The Christmas party was hosted at the St. Peters Community and Art Center on Dec 6th.  Everyone enjoyed the food and several members participated in the ornament exchange.   

Everyone enjoyed the food and ornament exchange.  Thanks to Dee for getting the meat and providing table decorations, Charlotte for getting the table covers, and everyone for bringing some fantastic dishes to share with others.

New Web Site

The new web site is on line!  Thanks to Wyatt Sample for setting it up.  More emphasis will be placed on getting input from club members.  Wyatt will be routing a form so that you can provide information on yourself and provide him with pictures for the site.  Be sure to book mark the new URL - http://www.stcharlesareawoodcarvers.com/ .

Affiliations: St. Charles Area Woodcarvers, Belleville Holzschnitzers, West County Woodcarvers, National Association of Woodcarvers, St. Louis Woodworkers Guild, Wood Turners of St. Louis, Ship Crafters and St. Louis Admirals RC Boat Club

Interests: Song birds, relief carving, animals, architectural carving, wood working, wood turning, ship and wagon models

Carving Background: Rich is self taught and has been carving for over 20 years.  In the last five years he has taken classes in relief and song bird carving.

Dee Kley experimented with various ways of carving fur - burning, diamond wheel, and Dremel saw. Native American by Corky Breece from a Rex Branson butternut roughout.  Note the detail carved in the rear view.

Want a paper copy of the news letter?

Paper copies of the news letter will be available provided you pay for the printing and the mailing.  The copies will be printed from the electronic file so the layout will be different than you are use to.  Page breaks will be a fall out of the electronic copy.  A $10 fee will be charged up front and the cost of each issue will be deducted from the account.  Cost for black and white copies will be 15 cents a page plus postage.  Contact the editor if you would like to set up an account. 

 

Dues are Due

It is time to pay your dues for 2007; $15.  Contact the Membership Chairman, Charles Sapp, or Treasurer Bob Craven. 

 

When you have an item for show and tell, please get my attention before you leave (presuming that I remember to bring the camera).
