Club News:

The club is now meeting twice a month - the first and third Wednesdays at 7pm!

The Club held its Annual Christmas party on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. A number of members were able to attend with their spouses. There was much good food and drink. The Club provided meats and drinks while the members brought in side dishes and desserts.

We also held an ornament exchange. Each member who choose to bring a wrapped ornament received an ornament. Numbers were pulled from a hat and the member who held the corresponding number was allowed to pick from the ornaments. Al Westfall was last to pick and in an unusual result ended up with his own ornament. As he had put a lot of work into it he was pleased to take home his own carving.

Charles Sapp's "Carving a Santa Ornament" class has been delayed due to his job interfering with his pleasure. He promises to make it up at a later date.

Show and Tell:back to table of contents

Bob Berg has been working on Christmas ornaments Several are pictured below.

The first picture is one of his candle characters in a candle holder. The next picture are three other character Christmas candles. The third picture is a character ornament. He got the ideas from Randy Landen.

The crosses were carved by Charles Adams. He experimented with different levels of woodburning for each cross. The cane was done by Dee Kley. It is difficult to get a good picture of a cane, but you can see the theme which she used throughout the length of the cane; bears and feathers.

The carvings above were done by Sal Bax. The bear relif was carved in John Engler's class, the Santa was done in Bob Bierman's class. Both were done in basswood and finished with acrylic paint.
